Admin Announcements / FOR NEWCOMERS
« Last post by Phosphorus on January 25, 2012, 02:27:54 am »
So we've gotten a huge influx in people registering on these forums. Our glorious leader AJ says he's been recruiting people, but even he's still fuzzy on the details and it's hard to find out what exactly is going on.

If you've registered within the past 2 months, please introduce yourself here and tell me what the hell is going on. As the only person who manages the forums... Well... It's not a huge deal, but I'd like to know where you came from.

Thanks.

Clan Ranks / Rank Progression Mechanics
« Last post by Phosphorus on April 04, 2011, 08:16:07 am »
Advancing in this clan is easy to do if you follow the clan rules. There are a few factors that can possibly seem daunting, but in all honesty, they're not. Just remember: A good clan member deserves promotions.

1. Longevity
Promotions can simply be given, especially the lower ranked ones, through your time in the clan. The longer you stay, the more due you are for a promotion. Of course, this scales with rank, and at a certain point you can't get promoted simply by being in the clan. If your personal "Clock" comes to zero, and you're due for a promotion, but you haven't been active in the clan, you will not receive the promotion. You will, however be notified that you aren't contributing before your countdown reaches zero, and you will be given ample chance to redeem yourself.

2. Activity
Being active in the clan is critical, if not the most important. You can get promoted via clan activity mainly by just playing regular games with the clan, but one is slightly more recognized if he/she also participates in clan meetings and in-game scheduled clan events. Just being active in the forums doesn't count, but it's always lovely to know you're an active part of the community, considering the clan is just that.

3. Special Actions
There are also certain cases where, if you particularly prove yourself to admins or the clan, you can get promotions. For example: Taking on a one man task for the clan, doing tasks specifically assigned by admins, or just doing spontaneous acts of kindness and benefit for the clan members or the clan as a whole. If you happen to be quite the productive and dedicated person, and love to do things for admins, your promotion countdown can be shortened, to a point of being cut entirely in half. Get creative and keep yourself open.

4. Quality of Work
These forums didn't get all shiny by themselves. If you took away all of the sizings, spaces, and colors, what would you have? Sure, you could still see the raw information, but it would be put together sloppily and just not very fonz-fresh at all. What we strive for in this clan is quality. Quality over quantity. Actually, Quality AND quantity. We want the very best from our Clan members, because if each and every one of us is doing good work, the clan will prosper. If you take on tasks for this clan, the effort is one thing, but the end result is something different. Not only be active, be dedicated. Not only play, but play as a team. Not only be in the clan, contribute.

AUXILIARY NOTES
-Any benefit, ability, or privilege gained from advancing to a rank CARRIES ON to further ranks. This means once you become a Master Sargeant and go beyond, you will always be able to order around a person of lesser rank, officer or otherwise. Once you become a Warrant Officer, you will always have access to the Officer boards, once you become a Staff Sargeant you will always be able to initiate new recruits, and the list goes on.

-There can be an infinite amount of moderators of the forums, but ONLY TWO FORUM ADMINS exist. AJ, and Phosphorus. Unless one of these two people resign, their complete control over the forums will not be obtainable.

-Some ranks do not advance by the standard rank progression mechanics alone, but through the special task assigned to the rank as well. For instance; a Captain will only be promoted to a Major when he/she completes the Management Training, EVEN IF the Captain has been the perfect, model clan member for over 9000 years.

-The Officer Board is a "discussion center" for all officers and admins that is invisible for enlisted ranks.

Hello there clanmates. As of early April 2nd, I've been appointed your new Forum Administrator (or PIMP, as AJ puts it, Player in Management Position), which means I'll be the one doing the stuff, and , most importantly, the things. There are other people in charge around here, as you've gathered, but I'll be the guy really managing the forums. Expect new updates, new boards/official threads, and a full on visit from Xzibit in an all new episode of Pimp My Forum. First off I'd just like to thank everyone for being here as they are, and I want to give a first hand welcome to our newest members. I hope you all have a wonderful time, and welcome to TGS!

No, but really. I'm your PIMP now.

[TGS]

After nine years in development, hopefully, it will have been worth the wait.

Welcome to the Tactical Gaming Squad. This is probably completely irrelevant if you have had any sort of talk with AJ in order to get into the clan, but take a gander at this anyway.

Fonz here. Be cool, like me. Fonz-cool

All of us probably rage in game, and I bet some of you throw around some could-be-considered racist stuff with your friends, and we understand. I can fully admit to having the rage being 50% of any game I play, and at least 20% of my skill. That's fine, we don't want to be the **** blockers of fun in-game. However, in terms of forum usage, EVERYbody gets tired after seeing the phrase "Shitting dick nipples" in every other post.

That being said, try not to **** people off or cause heated (and probably retarded) argument in the forum. Keep your conflicts private. If you honestly have a problem with somebody in our community and can't deal with it, talk to a high ranking officer or an admin. If you're attacking someone personally, or having very heated arguments, you are therefore simultaneously not being fonz-cool.

In terms of gameplay, being Fonz-cool is also key in some areas, especially if you're prone to Greed. For instance, in L4D2. Don't hog the medkits, and heal someone if they truly need it. This is especially prominent in Killing Floor. Kills equals dosh, we can agree on this, no? Therefore, if you're a berserker who just loves chopping everything up, leave some for the other guy. Even the field medic. Make sure everyone gets their fair share, and if you honestly can't do that by letting them get a few kills instead of you, then make sure you are spreading the wealth at the end of the round. Sure, you may be a hotshot now, but how are you going to kill the Patriarch when you're the only one with a good weapon and everyone else has floppy pink dildos to smack him around with? Berserkers can only kill Patriarchs when there's teamwork. Hell, progressing in Killing Floor is possible only through teamwork.

Don't get me wrong, we're not all business here. If every game was solely dedicated to getting the set objective done, I wouldn't be a gamer as much as I am today. We'll leave it to you to decide when to crash the helicopter with 5 of your allies into a wind turbine and escape by parachute, spray a Goatse.cx in the spawn room for maximum lulz, and when its srs bisnss mode.

We are a clan of gamers as much as we are a community of friends, just keep that in mind. Treat yourselves as clanmates should, and the clan will reward you back. Besides, friendship IS magic.

There really isn't too many iron-fist rules here in the community. Most of them are just reiterations of "Use good judgement"

Thanks, and have fun.

To get involved into [TGS] clan, you must first obtain yourself a copy of Teamspeak 3. Xfire is optional, but recommended.
For teamspeak and Xfire click here.

http://www.xfire.com/
http://www.instantteamspeak.com/

( On the Right hand side "Download teamspeak" )

All new recruits will be assigned to the rank of Private, and will be on a one month probation. What this means is that you'll be under the close eye of our officers to see if you're right for the Clan. When in doubt, see the R&R.

All new recruits must create a forum account as well. Just register, and you will wait to be approved by an admin.
